Entropic’s CableLabs Demos Shows How MSOs Can Quickly Implement Compelling Set-Top Box-centric Services with HTML5 Support and DLNA Commercial Video Profile (CVP2) Functionality
KEYSTONE, CO., August 12, 2013 – This week, Entropic (NASDAQ: ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, will be at CableLabs® Summer Conference 2013 showing how its next-generation set-top box and connectivity silicon solutions enable MSOs to bring more captivating whole-home entertainment experiences – to market faster. CableLabs Summer Conference is a private event, open only to CableLabs’ operator members and demonstrating vendors.
“The cable industry is undergoing an evolution that needs to rapidly marry silicon innovation with consumer interests,” said Roger Gregory, vice president, Marketing, Entropic. “To get more subscribers engaged while increasing MSO ARPU opportunities, MSOs need groundbreaking silicon technology from Entropic to connect users with new HTML5-based TV experiences via easy-to-use interfaces coupled with 3D graphics capabilities, improved search, and advanced applications.”
At CableLabs Summer Conference 2013, Entropic will showcase:
- How cable operators can meet the FCC mandate for cable set-top boxes (STBs) to include an industry-standard IP interface port, and provide DLNA Commercial Video Profile (CVP2) functionality. By collaborating with ACCESS Co. LTD., Entropic will demonstrate a complete, robust and fully hardware-accelerated CVP2 and HTML5 solution, running on Entropic's EN7588 high-performance STB System-on-a-Chip (SoC) platform. The demo shows how operators and device manufacturers can quickly implement compelling STB-centric services to support DLNA guidelines on consumer electronic (CE) devices.
- A production-ready implementation of the Comcast Reference Design Kit (RDK) based on Entropic’s EN7588 SoC. The solution is powered by a dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor with MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) connectivity to accelerate time-to-market for new operator services.
- The industry’s most mature MoCA 2.0 solution for operator-supported MoCA-to-WiFi Adapters, MoCA-based Ethernet-to-Coax Adapters (ECAs) and USB Bus-Powered MoCA Adapters for whole-home data and video coverage.
