Entropic Demonstrates Ways Cable Operators Can Monetize their Networks at CableLabs Summer Conference 2014

Entropic Highlights Advanced Solutions for Bandwidth Reclamation and RDK Service Deployment

SAN DIEGO, July 31, 2014 – Next week, Entropic (NASDAQ: ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, will be at CableLabs® Summer Conference 2014 in Keystone, Colorado, demonstrating ways Cable/MSOs can monetize their networks. CableLabs Summer Conference is a private event, held August 3-6, 2014, and is open only to CableLabs’ operator members and demonstrating vendors.

At CableLabs Summer Conference 2014, Entropic will highlight solutions focused on:

·       Bandwidth Reclamation: Entropic has shipped more than five million set-top box (STB) system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for North American cable operator HD-DTAs (High-Definition Digital Transport Adapters). Entropic will show multiple DTA types from small form factor to HDMI configurations – all based on Entropic’s advanced HD-DTA SoC series, the EN7100. With Entropic’s HD-DTA SoCs, cable operators can reclaim the analog bandwidth needed to launch enhanced, value-added digital services. Entropic's HD-DTA solutions are designed to be universal and can operate seamlessly with major head-end systems where digital content is encrypted or in the clear.

·       Increase Service Velocity: An early licensee of the Reference Design Kit (RDK), Entropic will demonstrate how its Open RDK platform enables Cable/MSOs to bring advanced services and devices to market faster by minimizing software diversity in their STBs, while saving significant time and resources on application development through the reuse of software. In this demo, Entropic will show how its Open RDK platform is fully open and maximizes the commonality of code used on different set-top devices, leading to full software stack portability across different hardware configurations from low-cost STBs, hybrid STBs and DVRs to IP-Client and gateway products.
